Important Lamp Price Increase and Shortage Notification
To: Van Meter Customers
Rare Earth Oxides (REO’s) are a critical component of fluorescent-based lighting systems. The recent global shortage of these materials is currently having a direct impact on phosphor availability and pricing on all linear and compact fluorescent products regardless of manufacturer or supplier. Some experts feel that these shortages will continue through 2014.
As a result, all sales and quotes for fluorescent lamps will reflect a 15%-33% increase effective immediately. If you currently have any open “hold-for-release” orders and we have the lamps in our warehouse you must accept delivery before 8/15/2011 to avoid the price increase.
Philips Lighting, like other manufacturers, is also notifying us that we will experience extended lead times on many of these products until there is a solution to the REO shortage. We also may experience more price increases in the near future.
