Anne Niebuhr Honored with Clete Smith Employee-Owner of the Year Award
Congratulations to Anne Niebuhr located in our Waterloo branch on being selected as the recipient of Van Meter's 2017 Clete Smith Employee-Owner of the Year Award! You are a shining example of an employee-owner and are respected by many. You value relationships and serve your family, community and company in countless, selfless ways.
In February, 2008, Van Meter lost a very special friend and fellow employee-owner, Clete Smith. Since Clete’s passing, each year we have awarded one Van Meter employee-owner with the Clete Smith Award. Clete Smith embodied what it means to be an employee-owner at Van Meter. His presence was a reminder of what we value most in our employee ownership culture; selflessness, humility, a strong work ethic, and compassion.
In the spirit of employee ownership and in honor of Clete’s memory, Anne Niebuhr, Systems Programmer in Waterloo, was honored with this year’s Clete Smith Award. Anne was nominated by Pat Kress and Jon Grose for this award. Below are excerpts from the nominations demonstrating how Anne embodies the spirit of this award and what it means to be an Employee-Owner at Van Meter.
“As a system administrator, she is regularly receiving calls from people across the organization. They are guaranteed to be met with a voice on the other end that is full of interest, knowledge, and a genuine desire to help.”
“Her humor, love and dedication to the people around, instantly impress upon you the uniqueness of being her friend.”
“Anne has been a leader, a friend, a mentor, and has been “All In” before that was a buzzword or she was an owner of this company.”
“Always willing to help and always starting a group effort to pull the team together whether it’s exercises in the sales area or a spontaneous lunch or Dairy Queen on a hot summer’s day.”
