FACTORYTALK OPTIX FAQs

No. FactoryTalk Optix is adding to Rockwell’s visualization portfolio. Hardware and software components like PanelView 5000s, PanelView Plus 7s, PanelView ME Station and FactoryTalk View SE are still active and available.

FactoryTalk Optix fills a unique gap by offering capabilities that those platforms don’t natively support, like cloud-enabled options, third-party support and remote management.

Both! You can either download Optix or access it within FactoryTalk Hub, Rockwell’s cloud-based solution for applications. This lets you choose the environment that best fits your operational and security needs while enabling seamless integration with other software solutions on FactoryTalk Hub.

Almost anywhere! FactoryTalk Optix offers incredible flexibility for deployment. You can build the application once and deploy it across multiple platforms like these:

  • Industrial PC running Windows or Linux
  • OptixPanel, a sealed, firmware-based HMI
  • Edge Compute Module, embedded in a ControlLogix chassis for high-speed backplane communication
  • OptixEdge, a platform agnostic DIN rail mounted module

Not yet. In 2026, FactoryTalk Optix will expand to include SCADA functionality. That will give the option for workstation clients and server redundancy, so you can deploy Optix across your entire industrial manufacturing ecosystem regardless of the application size.

Yes. Thanks to the GitHub integration, FactoryTalk Optix allows for multi-user collaboration and version control, so you have a record of who made changes and when.

Yes. Optix includes native support for third-party drivers, making it easier to integrate with a wide range of devices and systems without additional middleware or custom development.

Optix features an internal datalogger that enables data logging directly to its embedded SQLite database. Alternatively, you can log data to an external ODBC-compliant database, such as SQL Server or MySQL. Additionally, Optix supports time-series data logging to InfluxDB, either locally or on a remote host.

FactoryTalk Optix has an open interface and scripting support. You can write C# scripts (NetLogix scripts in Optix) to perform a variety of custom functions.
