GROUNDED IN OUR COMMUNITIES
We’re an employee-owned company with a big heart. It’s our honor to give back to the communities, organizations and people that power our personal and professional lives.
We are connected to our communities. We coach local t-ball teams. We walk for the cure. We serve our schools. And we support local theater productions. In fact, each year our employee-owners volunteer more than 6,000 hours to local communities. And, as a company, we’re honored to donate more than $800,000 annually to local charities.
When you do business with Van Meter, you help us extend our gifts to many. Because, from where we stand, being an integral part of the communities we serve and contributing to the quality of life is vital to our success.
IMPACTING OUR COMMUNITY
It’s one thing to say we care about the communities where we work and live. It’s another thing to prove it. We have a Community Impact Committee made up of employee-owners from across our geographical footprint that is dedicated to making a difference in each of our communities – from our smallest branch locations to our headquarters in Cedar Rapids. Check out all the good they’ve done over the last year.
We’ve powered organizations supporting initiatives like:

What Community Impact Means to Us
GOING THE EXTRA MILE IS
OUR RESPONSIBILITY
Community impact is more than just charitable giving. We want to work side by side with our customers and suppliers to collectively make a difference. We’re sending our people to events they’re passionate about and supporting organizations’ missions the way they want to be supported. Even if someone never buys products from Van Meter, we want them to know what kind of company we are and what we stand for.
Each year, Van Meter awards Spark Your Success Scholarship to individuals who are pursuing a career related to the electrical trades and share Van Meter’s core values of passion for the industry and giving back to their communities.
Van Meter also supports the Power Your Future scholarship along with Gilda and Barry Boyer. The Power Your Future Scholarship is awarded annually to Cedar Rapids area high school students committed to pursuing a career in the electrical trade.
