Five benefits of using the Southwire SIMpull Reel
Wire pulling can be time-consuming, complicated, and tiring when you consider the manpower, equipment and effort it takes to complete a job. Don’t you wish it could be more SIMpull? Well, when you use the right equipment, it can. Watch our timelapse comparison of a traditional wire pulling setup vs. Southwire’s SIMpull reel to see how much time and effort you can save, and check out the benefits of the SIMreel below.

BENEFITS OF THE SOUTHWIRE SIMPULL REEL
1. You don’t need jack stands.
Tired of knocking knees and shredding shins? Setting up jack stands for a wire pull can be a pain – literally! With the SIMpull reel design, your wire is already elevated, and the reel locks in place, so you don‘t need to worry about hauling around jack stands, setting up reels and busting shins.
2. There’s no lifting required.
Depending on the size and length of wire, regular wooden spools can be heavy to lift. With the SIMpull reel, no jack stands means no lifting spools onto the stand. While setting up a couple spools might not seem like a lot of work, doing it for multiple wire pulls day after day can be taxing on the body. Less lifting means fewer injuries and more energy for the things you enjoy doing when you get home from the jobsite.
3. One person can set up a SIMreel.
A traditional wire pulling setup requires two or three people to set the jack stands and lift the spools in place. A SIMreel can be set up by one person because there’s no heavy lifting required. It rolls and fits through standard 36” doorways, so one person can safely maneuver a 5,000-pound reel by themself. With fewer people required, it frees up workers to perform other tasks on the jobsite and get more done in less time.
4. You can combine multiple conductors on one reel.
In a traditional wire pulling setup, pulling multiple conductors requires multiple spools that each require their own set of jack stands. With the SIMreel, you can stack multiple runs on one reel to reduce the number of spools and heavy equipment needed on the jobsite.
5. Wire pulls take less time.
With no jack stands to set up, no heavy lifting, fewer people required and multiple runs stacked onto one reel, you can complete wire pulls much faster. In the video above, the setup time is four times faster. While saving a few minutes on a single wire pull might not seem like a big deal, the time savings over the course of a larger project add up quickly.
