Voltmeter Training

VLM102

COURSE PURPOSE

Electricians work with many different types of power. This course will teach the difference between types of systems and power and how students can measure power using meters.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
  • How to define voltage, current, resistance and power
  • How to select and use digital and analog multimeters
  • How to identify AC and DC waveforms
  • How to read and interpret electrical diagrams
  • How to measure, record and interpret basic analog signals
COURSE SYLLABUS
  • Comparing AC and DC power
  • Resistance board measurements
  • Identifying AC and DC using a resistor board
  • Calculating AC power and power factor
  • Using a Fluke signal meter to measure analog signals
8 CEUs
Course Length:

One day

Who should attend?

Students who will need to use voltmeters to identify and measure power should take this course.

Student Materials

Bring a voltmeter if you have questions about what you use in the field.

Hands-on Experience

Students will use what they learn in several labs to better understand the content.
