Tips & tricks for making circuit wire pulls easier with coilpaks
When you spend less time and effort pulling circuit wire, you get the job done quicker and have more energy for the things you’re passionate about. Did you know Southwire’s SIMpull® CoilPAKs™ reduce pulling tension by 50%? Or that the package itself reduces pulling effort and makes it easier to carry and maneuver? Watch Adam’s tips and tricks for successfully using CoilPAKs on your jobsite, or learn more below.DO NOT STACK YOUR COILPAKS
When using CoilPAKs, option A is to use the CoilPAK cart for your circuit wire pulls. The cart can take up too much space though, and if you don’t need eight CoilPAKs, you might not need the cart. If you are not using the CoilPAK cart, make sure you do not stack your CoilPAKs on top of each other. It can cause the wire to twist, and you will end up pulling knots out of your CoilPAKs.
PLACE COILPAKS AS CLOSE TO THE PANEL AS POSSIBLE
To avoid pulling out excess wire and wasting it, you want to place your CoilPAKs as close to your pay-in point as possible. With CoilPAKs, you can pull circuit wire directly out of the pack, through your Southwire GUIDEit tool and into the conduit.
Your CoilPAKs should be directly below your panel and never stacked.
DO NOT TRY TO RE-USE EXCESS WIRE
If you end up with excess wire coming out of your CoilPAK, you should not try to stuff the wire back in. It will just cause knots and issues on your next pull. Instead, cut it off and recycle the wire. That’s why it’s important to get your CoilPAKs close to your panel and reduce your amount of waste.
UTILIZE YOUR CIRCUIT WIRE PULLING HEAD
Taping or stripping your wire in the field takes valuable time and creates the risk of injury. Using Southwire’s GRIPit™ reusable circuit wire pulling head is the simplest way to pull circuit wire while eliminating knives on the jobsite. Take your CoilPAK wires and feed them into your circuit wire pulling head, feed your wire pulling rope through your GUIDEit and hook it onto your circuit wire pulling head. Now you’re ready to pull.
